Job Summary: This position will assist the Somatic Psychology students with all Naropa University policies and procedures and will be involved with student advocacy and mentoring.
Job Duties: Responsibilities include advising current students, meeting with and interviewing prospective students, attending department meetings, overseeing student community meetings, reading applications and representing department at Admissions Open House. This position will give graduation clearances, prepare and implement orientation, help develop curriculum and update the student handbook.
Qualifications: Master’s degree with direct experience in Somatic Psychology or Dance Movement Therapy field preferred. This position requires excellent “people” skills as well as basic clerical, computer, organization and interpersonal skills. Must have negotiation skills, be able to pay strong attention to detail, have excellent communication and facilitation skills, and expertise with psychological evaluation. Prior Naropa University experience is preferred.

Dispatcher / Safe Walk Program
Position Title: Dispatcher, Safe Walk Program
Hours per Week: 20 hours/week
Reports to: Dean of Students
Salary: $10/hour

Job Summary: This is a temporary position lasting until May 8, 2011 to develop and oversee a Safe Walk pilot program on the Arapahoe Campus. This person would be responsible for coordinating a safe walk program, overseeing a staff of individuals who are escorting students from the Arapahoe Campus to their residences. The dispatcher would be on duty from 5-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and would receive and document incoming calls, transmit messages to appropriate personnel for dispatching and tracking walking services and keep logs of the daily activities of services rendered .
Job Description:
- Acts as shift supervisor in dispatching personnel and equipment in using established protocols.
- Operates a university cell phone and mobile handheld radio (“walkie talkie”). Responsible for these and 2 additional walkie talkies used by escorting staff in good working order.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and logs of all transmissions, telephone calls and other records, files, information systems.
- The dispatcher would receive requests for services, make appropriate decisions and efficiently manage limited resources.of escorting staff.
- Develop and implement a training program for Safe Walk staff.
- Recruits and schedules escort staff to assure continuous availability of the Safe Walk service during the 6–10 p.m. hours of operation.
- Coordinates with Safety and Security personnel (Manager &Patrol Guard) for assistance from them and, as available may do short tours of Arapahoe Campus to observe and report on campus status.
Job Requirements:
- Uses good judgment in making decisions, in emergency and routine situations.
- Knowledge of and experience working problem solving, crisis intervention and conflict resolution.

Events Coordinator - President's Office

Job Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating events for the President’s Office and assuring that all the details of events are coordinated and overseen.
Job Duties:
Clerical & Administrative Support
- Provides support to the administrative assistant to the president as required.
- Tracks travel budget and files for reimbursement for the president’s travel.
- Provides travel itineraries of the president to the staff in the Office of the President as well as the President’s spouse and the members of the cabinet.
- Creates master planning calendar for events in the President’s Office.
- Oversees and approves expenditures for special events within the budget of the Office of the President.
Events Management
- Schedules all special events for the Office of the President, including, but not limited to, Convocation, Board of Trustee Meetings, Shambhala Day, commencement
and all connected events.
- Provides administrative support to the Graduation Committee and other committees as assigned.
- Coordinates with the House Assistant in the president’s home to make sure all events are coordinated.
- Responsible for all aspects of events including, scheduling, menu coordination, room reservations, invitations, etc.
- Works with the Development Office to coordinate special fundraising travel and events for the president.
- Coordinates with the administrative assistant to the president to schedule all of the President’s travel and coordinate his travel itineraries.
- Works with and establishes relationships with outside vendors, hotels and restaurants, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Event coordination and/or project management experience and expertise in financial tracking and analysis.
- High sense of professionalism and commitment to excellence.
- Experience in booking domestic and international travel for high-level executives.
- Ability to maintain extraordinary confidentiality, patience and compassion for others.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships and trust, and deal knowledgeably and confidently with colleagues and visitors.
- Ability to work professionally with the Board of Trustees, members of the president’s cabinet, and other entities of special interest to the university.
- Ability to perform confidential, sensitive or critical interactions with potential and past university donors.
- Ability to proofread important, critical or confidential correspondence from the president’s office.
- Ability to climb two flights of stairs to the office, which is located on the second floor of a historic and
non-accessible building.
- Tolerance for high volume productivity and multi-tasking; must have flexibility and good follow-through.
- Comfort with, and interest in, contemplative education and the Naropa mission and culture preferable.
- Must be able to work occasional weekends during such events as Board meetings and Commencement; must ensure daily office coverage for standard hours designated.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite requires and expertise with technical equipment (recording devices, webcams, projectors, computers) preferred.

Financial Aid Counselor

Job Summary: This position is the primary contact for current and prospective students requesting information or help with the financial aid process. The primary function is to assist students and families in education in applying for financial aid and financial planning to aid in the recruitment and retention of students.
Job Duties:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all federal and institutional policies and procedures related to financial aid.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge and proficiency with SAS related modules of integrated database—Jenzabar.
- Respond to all phone and email inquiries from current and prospective students.
- Act as the primary contact for all walk-in traffic requesting financial aid information.
- Coordinate online chats and other forms of communication with prospective students.
- Counsel students regarding budgeting, financial aid, scholarship and repayment options.
- Coordinate and track appeals for additional financial aid.
- Coordinate data entry of all financial aid related documents.
- Coordinate follow up of all missing documentation from students.
- Coordinate all mailings for the financial aid office.
- Coordinate the renewal application for annual Veterans approval.
- Update all written and electronic publications related to financial aid, including website, brochures, catalog copy and inserts to award notification packets.
- Communicate clearly with other offices as well as other staff within SAS.
- Act as veteran’s certifying official in all matters related to veteran’s and veteran’s benefits including reapplication for benefits, annual audit, certification and counseling of veteran’s regarding benefits.
- Hire and supervise two work study students.
- Supervise and act as backup to Americorps coordinator.
- Counsel students regarding budgeting, financial aid, scholarship and repayment options.
- Coordinate implementation of JICS, including set up of groups, etc.
- Allocate and manage all funding for Federal community service work study program
- Assist in coordinating the collection of delinquent Perkins loans, including monthly phone calls and letters.
- Process advances and emergency loans for students.
- Maintain outside scholarship list-serve and bulletin boards.
- Assist with tuition payments and payment plans during peak payment times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in any field preferred, but not required
- 1–2 years experience in financial aid highly preferred
- Some accounting experience preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Explorer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent proven customer service skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

Job Duties:
- Communicates policies, programs and procedures in partnership with department management.

Job Summary: Under the general direction and supervision of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Institutional Research Analyst independently performs highly skilled professional work that develops and supports an institutional research function of the University.
Work includes a wide variety of analytical tasks and projects utilizing various software applications and includes tasks such as data-mining, creating or identifying databases, analyzing existing data and generating new data based on institutional needs, highlighting key findings and
communicating implications, maintaining the research data files, providing data for internal and external reporting, and conducting analysis to support planning and decision support information.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and monitors data files and supplementary databases and data sets
- Performs basic analysis and reports the results to the Associate VP for Academic Affairs and Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Maintains and updates University website information with related institutional research and assessment information
- Prepares, distributes and processes in-house developed surveys
- Conducts research and presents findings utilizing various forms of media
- Prepares for the initial review of office research studies and projects
- Provides status reports on ongoing projects
- Solicits data via various means to support analytical studies
- Defines, analyzes, plans and implements solutions to improve operational efficiencies
- Provides technical support as well as training on new of existing system techniques
- Performs routine database support and monitoring to ensure data base integrity
- Coordinates research efforts with other university offices and personnel

Essential Duties:
- Responsible for analysis of intra-university and inter-university comparison of all enrollment related data, including admission, enrollment, financial, financial aid, retention and demographics.
- Complete all external surveys and reports, including guidebooks, IPEDS, FISAP, HLC information, Colorado State Approving Agency, CCHE, completion of directory information and Common Data Set for Princeton Review, Peterson’s Guide, etc.
- Conduct, store and analyze University student satisfaction survey as well as administer and/or coordinate administration and analysis of national surveys such as NSSE, ASQ and CIRP.
- Prepare complex confidential statistical and data base reports, tables, graphs, surveys and questionnaires for both internal and external agencies in printed, electronic and web-enabled formats.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in any field, masters highly preferred.
- 2–3 years experience in higher education, data analysis or other closely related field.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and use of SQL, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Explorer, SPSS.
- Skill in compiling, organizing and analyzing data and preparing analytical reports and making recommendations.
- Ability to design simple experimental and correlational studies.
- Experience in strategic planning based on comparative data analysis.
- Experience with market research preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work well independently as well as communicate well with various University constituencies.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong organization and efficient data management skills.
Required Knowledge of:
- Research design, data evaluation, and database management as applicable in higher education institutional research.

- Recruit and supervise Clinical Mentors; assist students in selecting Clinical Mentors.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Psychology or related field required; license in Counseling preferred; ADTR preferred
- Experience with clinical counseling required; supervisory experience preferred

Position Title: Academic Advisor - Undergraduate Advising

Job Summary: Participates fully in an integrated team approach to serving undergraduate students; assists students in designing their long-range academic plans and creating class schedules each semester. Advisors are the primary resource for students in making well informed decisions regarding the academic journey at Naropa, from orientation through graduation.
Job Duties:
- Help students design their courses of study each semester and provide support in determining their long-term academic plans.
- Support students by assisting them in various administrative processes including, but not limited to, interpreting university policies and departmental requirements, curriculum petitions, and independent study requests.
- Advise students on course selection, undergraduate core curriculum, and major and minor requirements.
- Hold regular office hours for students, staff, and faculty.
- Direct students to appropriate support services pertaining to academic, social and emotional matters.
- Provide crisis interventions as needed.
