Registration
Academic Advising
Upon entering Naropa, each student is assigned an academic advisor who will help with questions about course selection, registration, transfer credit, declaration of major and many other topics related to your academic journey, from orientation through graduation.
Fall start students: You will receive information about your advisor assignment in July. At that time, you can contact your advisor with any specific questions about curriculum. Of course, your advisor will be available to you upon arrival in Boulder.
Naropa Curriculum
Perhaps you are already familiar with Naropa’s core curriculum classes. If not, please take a look to get a detailed picture of what’s involved. Students are strongly recommended to complete the Writing Seminars I and II, the Contemplative Learning Seminar and the Diversity Seminar during their first two semesters at Naropa.
For fall start students: As a part of the registration process, you will be assigned to two of these required seminar courses, based upon any transcripts you might have submitted.
Later in the summer you will receive a letter from the registrar’s office letting you know the classes to which you have been assigned. Please be sure to get transcripts submitted to Admissions as early as possible so we can take your earned credits into account when assigning you to courses.
During orientation, you will participate in group and individual meetings with your academic advisor and you will register for the remainder of your fall classes. To get an idea about what classes will be offered this fall visit web registration and choose “View Course Catalog and Schedules.” Be sure to set the “Current Option Settings”, in the lower middle of the page, to the correct semester and year. You can use this guide as a key to help you understand the course listings.
Because we will register you into the seminars according to the evaluations of transcripts we’ve already received, it is important that you submit any outstanding transcripts by mid-July. Students who took college credit tests or courses over the summer may not be able to meet this deadline. In this case, submit the transcripts as soon as you can.
Transfer Credits
Upon reviewing your transfer credit evaluation (which you should have received under separate cover), if you believe a particular course you’ve taken ought to fulfill one of Naropa’s core requirements, please contact Shyamaa Creaven with Undergraduate Advising at 303-245-4603 or screaven@naropa.edu to discuss the situation. If at all possible, we would like to help you resolve this process prior to registration at orientation.
If you choose to wait until you have arrived, you will have one semester to request any changes to your transfer credit evaluations.
Students Requiring Disability Services
Students with sensory disabilities and/or mobility issues (such as but not limited to: visual, dyslexia, hearing or wheelchair users) should contact Alicia Weiss, the disability services coordinator in Student Affairs,
at 303-245-4749 or aweiss@naropa.edu as soon as possible to facilitate timely provision of appropriate accommodations. Students with other disabilities and/or learning needs may contact the Disability Services Office in August.
